Approach

Our approach to reengineering utilizes five critical success factors:

  1. Identify an executive sponsor who is responsible for setting the direction of the reengineering effort

  2. Define a set of business objectives aimed at challenging the current processes

  3. Identify a cross functional Core Team of knowledgeable business managers, as well as focused Sub Teams of key business process users

  4. Use of the Total Order Management (TOM®) business process model as a straw man

  5. Structured consensus meetings to address rules, data and process definitions for all end-to-end integrated processes, including:

    • Process definitions
    • Process owners
    • Level of detail
    • Maintenance
    • Degree of automation

These five critical success factors are then used in two primary phases:

  1. Assess the current business processes and identify gaps to the TOM® business process model

  2. Implement the process by reviewing the TOM® model and then tailoring the process to fit the organization:

    • Review model details and process inter-dependencies with key business drivers
      (Core Team) of the company

    • Where required, tailor the model to encompass unique business requirements via the use of key process users (Sub Teams)

    • Implement the process through change management enabled by the business and key process drivers
